Entertainment and outdoor activities for the most active guests are never lacking in our village in Porto Sant'Elpidio! With us you can attend daily fitness and aquagym courses, try your hand at tennis, 5-a-side football and beach volleyball on our sports fields, or get on your bike, testing one of the recommended routes on the best bike paths in the area.

ITINERARY 1

Scents, landscapes and trades of the sea through three coastal municipalities

The promenade of Porto Sant'Elpidio is equipped with a modern bike path that runs north to south passing right through our Holiday tourist centre. You can rent bicycles in the parking lot in front of the village so you can have a pleasant excursion all the way down the coast to Porto San Giorgio.

Start by riding along the "green lung" of our town, the historic Pinewood featuring paths covered by the soft soil of the Aleppo Pines (to which the Holm oaks of the Mediterranean Macchia are gradually being added), breath in the intense smell of the pines before taking a wooden bridge, that also offers a water fountain.

A green strip of lawns and well-kept gardens equipped with games for children, benches and squares from which you can face the sea characterizes this first stretch of the seafront. Then you reach the centre of Porto Sant'Elpidio, featuring the panoramic Rotonda sul Mare, while on the right you can see the Clock Tower, the oldest part of the town which now houses the interesting exhibition Origini dedicated to the Piceni, and the fishing village where on Thursdays in July and August the Salotto della Calzatura is held.

Continue on, on a long stretch that passes very close to the water, where the sea breeze carries the taste of salt until you come across a series of wooden buildings: the "casotti" where you can buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen, who take to the sea from here with their boats.

The ride continues until the end of the town, where there is a new bridge in place to connect to Fermo's road network. From here, you first "descend" along the river Tenna and then follow a beautiful stretch of intact coastline on a cycle path named after Olympic champion Fabio Casartelli to the border of Porto San Giorgio, near the skyscraper, with a palm-lined promenade and sandy beach.

A little further on you reach the centre where a very short detour leads to the central Piazza Matteotti, which on Thursdays hosts the weekly market (also on Sundays in July and August), while every Tuesday afternoon until midnight the Antiques and Artistic Handicrafts market is held in the adjacent Viale Don Minzoni.

You can then resume the ride along the shore using the internal streets with the beautiful liberty style villas and finally arrive at the port bordered by the river Ete Morto where you may go to visit the "arms".

ITINERARY 2

From modern art to ancient history in the Marche countryside

The Holiday village is served by the bike path that runs along the entire promenade of the city of Porto Sant'Elpidio. It runs right through the entrance of our tourist centre, where we offer a bike rental service in our car park. A firm curb that separates it from the road and the sidewalk protects the path, and it is coloured red and displays the symbols of "two wheels".

This northern itinerary begins with a parade of murals that artists have created by "colouring" the walls of the railway that run along the new promenade, which extends towards a beautiful rural coastal area spared from urbanization. Here you will encounter old farmhouses isolated in the countryside up to the mouth of the river Chienti, which outlines the administrative border with the province of Macerata.

The first part of the route runs parallel to the beach, allowing you to take quick detours through reed beds, before passing through the underpasses, which lead to the road towards the hamlet of Bivio Cascinare in the midst of the industrial settlements of the footwear industry, once there you turn towards the countryside following the signs for Santa Croce.

Here begins a real immersion into the rural environment of the Marche, where each field is neatly cultivated and often still surrounded by the beautiful and significant trees, and interspersed with irrigation canals fed by the main waterways. In this area, in fact, the Chienti receives the water from the Ete Morto stream, whose curious name distinguishes it from its "brother" Ete Vivo, who instead flows into the sea (which you can see at the end of this Route 2).

Comfortable roads connecting the scattered country houses pass by panels illustrating the characteristics of the area and after crossing a magnificent avenue of plane trees, you should turn to a historic jewel: the Imperial Basilica of Santa Croce al Chienti, one of the oldest, as well as important, places of worship throughout the Piceno.

The Imperial Basilica dates back to the ninth century, but "rests" upon an early Christian basilica of the fifth. The recent restoration of the complex have brought to light new architectural highlights. You can visit the church on the first two Wednesdays of the month to learn about its important history and the influence it had on the area.

For your return, you can continue along the carriage road towards the river with its riparian vegetation where the birds stop to drink, here you come upon two artificial lakes and then return to the Centro Ippico where you close the loop and merge back onto the path of the outward journey.
